THE CHICAGO MODEL – SUCCESSFUL DESIGN AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL
Classical music won me over at an early age, and I fell in love with the beauty of the horn while listening to Bruckner’s 4th, played by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Sir Georg Solti. The sound of that recording inspired me to build an instrument in the tradition of Carl Geyer. The timeless significance of his classic craftsmanship demands that the characteristics of the Geyer model be preserved while updating it to meet contemporary needs. I reworked the tapers at strategic points, optimizing the intonation and response without altering the legendary noble tone. The result is the Chicago model, the ultimate instrument for those who seek to carry on a great tradition.
